In 2015, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

The agenda called for a change in thinking of sustainable development goals and targets this as a system. To achieve this goal, the 2030 Agenda established five pillars (‘5 Ps’): people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnership.

This new agenda brings together efforts to maintain peace, promote human rights, and eradicate poverty while safeguarding the natural environment. It is crystallised in a comprehensive and integrated set of 17 sustainable development goals that are a contract between world leaders and today's generation of individuals: an implementation of the goals will transform the world future generations inherit.
