In 2015, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
The agenda called for a change in thinking of sustainable development goals and targets this as a system. To achieve this goal, the 2030 Agenda established five pillars (‘5 Ps’): people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnership.
This new agenda brings together efforts to maintain peace, promote human rights, and eradicate poverty while safeguarding the natural environment. It is crystallised in a comprehensive and integrated set of 17 sustainable development goals that are a contract between world leaders and today's generation of individuals: an implementation of the goals will transform the world future generations inherit.

Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development
15. Life on land
Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss
16. Peace, justice and strong institutions
Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels

Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development
